Wheel Chair Assistance
I broke my ankle in Appenzell, Switzerland. The hospital was not only located with a wonderful view but the staff was caring and provided a good experience out of a bad situation. I left after 5 days and thought my trip would be over. I found out from an acquaintance that the Swiss and then later the German train companies provide mobile services. With a day or two notice they willprovide a service that where an employee will put the wheel chair on the train in the handicap section. Meet the train and transfer you to the next train. With my German rail pass I had free reservations for the handicap section and a seat for my husband. In the town of Winterthur Switzerland the bus that ran past our house would put a handicap accessible bus on they days I would need it. Because of this we were able to make 6 train trips all very successfully. I can't say enough for these services. We were there for 5 weeks and I used the service for 4 of them.
