Our Climate Smart Bag Collection
Five years after launching our Climate Smart Commitment, a self-imposed carbon tax supporting climate-smart agriculture in the developing world, we expanded that commitment to include Climate Smart travel bags. When we venture beyond our borders, we learn that societies around the world grapple with many of the same problems — and climate change is a challenge all humanity shares. Here at Rick Steves' Europe, we've been inspired by the Nordic cities that monopolize lists of the world's most environmentally friendly destinations. Copenhagen is on track to be the first carbon-neutral capital in the world. Ninety-four percent of Oslo's hotels are eco-certified. Bergen uses electric ferries and Gothenburg's airport shuttle runs on rapeseed oil.
We haven't figured out how to power Rick Steves' Europe headquarters with rapeseed oil, but we're now making great travel bags from recycled water bottles, and we've named them for our favorite pioneering Scandinavian cities.
