Our Rick Steves' Russia and the Baltics guidebook was last updated in 1998. Shortly thereafter, it went out of print. Sales simply did not justify the high cost of keeping a book on such a rapidly changing area up to date. But for your interest, we've kept the key chapters of the book available online below. Please note that this information is from 1998, and therefore only good for general information purposes. (The exception is the Tallinn overview article; a chapter about visiting Tallinn appears in our current Rick Steves' Scandinavia guidebook.) If you're going to fast-changing Russia, it's essential to supplement these chapters with a guidebook that's as current as possible. Lonely Planet and Rough Guide both publish guidebooks on the region. - Moscow, Russia
