Traveling to Calabria

In October I'm traveling to Calabria to see the region where my maternal grandmother immigrated from. There isn’t very much information on the web about what to do and see in Calabria. We are likely to pick up a car in Cosenza to visit Grimaldi the area of her origin. Any suggestions?

I'd pick up a rental car in whatever town a rental car from AutoEurope is available in, check their website to determine which town(s) that would be. This is a rural area so you wouldn't want to assume too much about where a car could be picked up but instead would want to verify it as soon as possible. There are resort accommodations at Tropea if that suits you but check availability for October, it's late in the season. Non-resort accommodations include the Hotel Aquila-Edelweiss northeast of Cosenza but again it closes in Nov so verify availability in advance.
