Being on my 8th RS tour, I always enjoy the focused areas of the itinerary as well as the serendipity moments on your own. Having a free evening to see Aida at the Hungarian Opera House was certainly a mindsticker.

The most organized tour I’ve ever been a part of! The hotels were centrally located to everything. The rooms were well thought out and included everything needed for comfort and convenience. There was a perfect balance between tours and free time. The “buddy system” saved so much time from guides having to count and recount heads to make sure everyone was there. I was impressed with my overall tour experience. The hotels were very nice, and the locations were outstanding. The guides were all the best I've ever experienced and made the trip incredible. The food and art (opera) experiences were unique, and something I would never have experienced had I planned this trip on my own. I enjoyed the balance of planned time and free time. It allowed me to see things I wanted to see that were particular to my interests without missing any of the tour.

"My "wow" moment was meeting Martin in Prague and realizing this is a man who lived under a communist regime during my childhood and is now standing here guiding a tour of Americans. There were many more WOW moments but this is one there is no way I could ever replicate on my own."

This was my 1st tour with Rick Steves' & it very much exceeded my expectations. The tour was very well organized & the guides (Andrea, Honza, George) were very knowledgeable. They also shared personal stories about growing up with communism that just added to the cultural learning experience. The tour had a good balance of group activities & free time. The bus ride went by quick with 2 stops & scenic views. And my tour group consisted of some amazing people that made the trip more memorable.

"So many "wow" moments but my favorite were the unexpected cultural experiences planned by our guides. Beautiful opera performances in both cities. Another big "wow" moment was being in Prague the day Czechia won the 2024 Hockey Championship and getting to experience the celebrations in the Old Town Square."

Tour was a delight! Days were well-organized, with just the right amount of free time. All of the guides (truly, All) were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Tours were well-paced, coffee breaks were delicious, and our lead guide, Andrea, did a masterful job of conducting and coordinating. The other travelers, too, were a joy to be with. It truly felt like a band of merry adventurers.

"I'll offer two: the planned, and the unplanned. For the planned: the intimate opera performance (guide's choice, I believe), on the last day in Prague. The soprano, especially, brought me to tears. The performers even stayed back and talked with us after the show. For the unplanned: When we visited Matthias Church in Buda, just a few minutes into our talk, a man performed a stunning 15-minute set on the church organs. It was truly a "wow" moment because no one expected it, not even Andrea."

Very positive feelings about the tour. I wanted to not just see the sights, but learn about the history and culture of the place I was visiting, which I certainly did. The choice of places to visit was exceptional both aesthetically and educationally. As one who likes to cook a variety of cuisines. I especially enjoyed the meals of authentic cuisine of the visited country

Once we got through the airline mess (we try to get to the hotel a day in advance but we lost that day as our opening flight did not go) the tour was as we have grown to expect. A great guide, good lodging , wonderful food and memorable activities. We had a wonderful time.

The tour was thoughtfully planned out with visits to areas and places in Prague and Budapest that were a tourist's "must see." And of course the guides in each of these cities were outstanding. Its a great thing to be able to see and experience these cities, but the addition of these phenomenal guides made it even better. The hotels were nice and even more importantly, located in prime areas.

This was our first Rick Steves tour, and we were very impressed. Everything was great, with a good balance of planned activities and downtime, history and culture, food and drink, etc. The performances by local musicians were a big highlight. The guides were all wonderful, especially their willingness to share their own personal experiences growing up while history was unfolding in their countries. We came away feeling that we know and appreciate Prague and Budapest so much more now.

Prague & Budapest was our first Rick Steves' city tour, and it was great, as were all of our previous tours. Great tour guide, great local guides, great tour group. All members could keep up the walking pace this tour, which was a plus. With English spoken, you could tour on your own (with Rick Steves' Guide Books, but the guides, musical experiences and fellow travelers really add to the vacation experience. Too many synagogues used a full morning. Could have used another day in Budapest.

The cooking class, the Czech beer tasting and group meals and the cameraderie. The tour of the opera hall. Jazz club Reduta, on my own, in Prague. The greatly varied architecture of the buildings. The recent & past history of both cities. Our guide's personal experience growing up in Hungary, and her enthusiasm for the culture and our group. The baths in Budapest!"

The Prague-Budapest tour was terrific! Our guides (George, Tomas, Sara, and Martin) were excellent. I enjoyed having free time. Some of my favorite things were done on free time (Petrin Tower, Astronomical Clock tour, Mass at St. Thomas, House of Terror, and Szechenyi Baths. Prague is gorgeous! Very safe to walk around alone. The Black Light Theater was great. Desserts amazing! The group's also enjoyable. The cooking class and Danube cruise - fun!

The experience from beginning to end was simply fantastic. We had excellent food, local entertainment and activities, and, above all else, our guides. George and Tomasz were engaging, thoughtful, kind, and personable - to name a few characteristics. Everything was well planned, and the Vox system allowed us to engage with the tour while taking photos or exploring just out of reach. First of all I think we got the best guide, Peter, (and Jana in Prague for the local guide) Peter is very personable and inclusive. He is comfortable to be around and such a perfect personality with great enthusiasm for his job. Rick, you made a perfect choice! This is my first tour with this company, and I will be finding another one to join. I loved how we were given tickets for the local transportation! My first time for travel like this, and it became comfortable and fun!

This was my first city specific tour out of all the previous tours I have taken. I really enjoyed the immersive historical details we received in both Prague and Budapest because we were spending more time in those cities. I enjoyed visiting more sites with the group that otherwise would be optional free time on the Eastern Europe tour. It was nice to spend the extra time in each place that this tour provides. It makes me want to try another city specific tour.

Rick Steve's Europe over-fulfilled its promise. The pre-travel communication and advice, the superb guides who were knowledgeable, experienced and enjoyable company, the friendship of fellow travelers all added up to an excellent value and memorable experience.

I was dubious on how 23 people were going to "have a cooking class and cook lunch" but it worked out beautifully and was a great shared experience. Cooking another culture's food is a deep dive experience and a cool way to interact within the group."

Excellent!! As usual with RS the guides were stellar, especially Levente and Honza. Hotels are well situated and comfortable, plans run smoothly and we get to experience so much with the group while still having time on our own.

"Following Honza along the route he took as a 13-year-old in 1989 with his big sister and a sea of protesters as they tried to march to Wenceslaus square at the start of the Velvet Revolution. It was the most moving day as he told us about his experiences and what they could have cost, including his sister’s medical career. History come to life. Honza gave us an amazing education each day in Prague and I will never forget it."

The Prague/Budapest tour was our 8th Rick Steves tour. It was one of the best. The three guides were outstanding and we were very fortunate to be able to each city guide for three days so we were able to really get to know them and understand their experience/perspective of living under Communist rule.

My husband and I went on the Best of Prague & Budapest in 8 Days (Sept. 3-10). We arrived at the Hotel Leonardo and LOVED our room--the best of our trip. Etelna is an outstanding guide--very personable. She kept us on schedule in a pleasant, no-nonsense way. We appreciated Peter's tours of Prague and Monica's tours of Budapest.

"We wanted to see the Black Light Theater in Prague. We had a terrible time finding it on Sept 4 (it had moved--guidebook update needed) & when we did, the performance was cancelled. From the website, it appeared to be sold out the only other day we could go, Sept. 5. We told Etelna about our disappointment. On her own, she called the theater. By sheer accident, we ran into her on the street and found out that we could go on 9/5 after all. The performance was wonderful."

The tour was lead our our outstanding guide, Etelka. We had a congenial group of traveling companions. Our hotels in both Prague and Budapest were convenient to transportation and important sights. The itinerary was well planned. Our local guides, Martin and Monica, provided excellent information. We had ample free time to explore on our own.

It is, without a doubt, the best travel experience due to the knowledge provided, the relationship with the guides, and the itinerary planned that allows the maximun time to explore the locations balanced with an appropriate amount of free time to sightsee on your own or rest.

Excellent opportunity to see and enjoy two historical cities that are sometimes not included enough in history lessons. Etelka the tour guide always arranged things that were interesting and fun. The local guides were knowledgeable and shared their lived experiences. June was a good time to visit! As a bonus, the thousands of Harley Davidson enthusiasts present for the 120th anniversary celebrations added to the uniqueness of the tour.

This was our 6th RS tour and first city tour. Like all others it was well organized, had great content and plenty of free time to explore on your own. Our two city guides Honza and Andrea were with us each day They showed us much more than we have seen on our own. They provided us a wealth of information along with exclusives, just for us like opera concert with members from the Budapest Opera, cooking class and music performances at dinner. For me it was our Czech Guide Honza Vihan taking us on his firsthand experience as a student as part of the massive crowd that over two weeks of peaceful demonstration took town the Communist government. He never knew if the Russians would. react with tanks and machine guns like they had in the past. That action was known as the Velvet Resolution that freed the country. "

This was one of the shorter tours I've taken and the first I've done since 2019. Really enjoyed everything about the tour, the sights and experiences were outstanding. Etelka was a great guide and arranged several surprises and treats for our group along the way.

Our guide Anna was amazing. She was very thoughtful, well informed of the area, and did a great job connecting with tour participants. We definitely visited some awesome spots and learned about the history of Prague. I would have enjoyed learning more about the history of Budapest - specifically what life was like under Communist rule and how things changed or didn't change after the transfer of power to a more democratic rule.

"The step by step description of the Velvet Revolution by our guide who was participated in the Velvet Revolution as a teenager. It was very powerful to hear a first hand account of a very significant historical moment while we walked the route to Wenceslas Square ."

Both Prague and Budapest exceeded our expectations, after arriving in both destinations with preconceived images we were quickly "turned around" after venturing out in to the many historic locations and meeting the locals from the Czech Republic and Hungary. The people we met were warm and friendly and more than happy to "direct us" to our intended destinations. The incredible architecture in both cities quickly filled up my camera SD card!

"There wasn't just one "wow moment" on this trip. We found the beauty in both cities to be almost overwhelming at times not know which direction to look. The two private performances with the gentlemen from the Prague Castle Orchestra and the Operatic duo were right at the top of our list. And combine all that with being able to share these moments with the others in our group made for an amazing vacation. "

Prague and Budapest have long been on my list of places to visit and I wasn't disappointed. Prague is lovely and Budapest is bustling.This tour provided so many diverse opportunities - from a private opera concert (amazing!) to heart breaking history at the Holocaust Memorial in Prague - a gorgeous river cruise on the Danube at night, to a cooking class in Budapest. I enjoyed every minute, even while hobbling around with a torn meniscus! Our guide Anna was wonderful and so helpful. Fun group.

This trip was great. I learned so much and I had a terrific time too. The itinerary is expert and the extra surprises our guide Andrea--one of the best guides in the business, I wager--provided, were delightful. I was ill the first morning, and Andrea checked in with me and then she met me and provided me with my tram and the Prague castle tickets so I could do it on my own and not miss anything. This trip had it all---music, history, art, architecture, food, and fun.

It was beyond my expectations. Our tour guide, Andrea, was superb--I really enjoyed her insights and little gifts of candy, etc each day. I think the balance of guided tours and time for yourself was perfect--we could either go back to the same sites or hit different ones, or just go back to the hotel and relax. Our guide in Prague (Jana) was also excellent--her knowledge of the city was truly amazing.

The guides were knowledgeable, approachable, and professional. Whether we were looking for a desert place, a particular fountain, shoes, or theater show, our Jana & Jana team was very helpful. I still see them in my mind like two hens with their adoptive chicks, trying to take care of the whole group, and still managing to recognize our individualities.

"From Prague was the moment we saw the Karlùv Most, we had seen it in photos but its beauty took our breath away. We enjoyed the buskers on the bridge that were playing the flute, accordion, or even the violins. Soña, Vratislav & Lenka's opera concert! Prague was like a shining jewel at night with the castle & the Charles Bridge decked out in lights. Budapest's "wow" moment was our first taste of curd with raspsberry authentic strudel at the Elsö Pesti Réesház, the baths at Széchenyi=WOW!!!"

Our first ever tour and 26th/27th countries visited. We had an excellent time. Every minute was full of great food, history architecture. Great guides Hanze, Shsrka, Eltalka, Monica were Both entertaining and informative and I remembered Hanza from the PBS episode. We also liked having free time to explore. The makeup and size of the group were great too. We all seemed to have things in common and 20 is the max I'd be happy with. It felt more personalized. Wish a music event has been included

The hotel and food choices were really good. Our tour guide was full of details about politics and history making very enjoyable our walks through out the cities. We never stopped because of the weather, it was raining but not very cold. (I will add that the rain made the experience more in tune with the tour) I loved enjoyed Prague and Budapest.

Good, 1st time RS tour, wasn’t sure what to expect. I think I was the only person who had actually Read my RS books provided. I arrived about 4 days early and stayed 4 days after to fully see both cities above and beyond the tour. Restaurants and food choices were good. Hotels were both in great locations.

We loved visiting these two cities, and felt the tour was exactly what we signed up for. And a great group of people who were up for the rigorous walking so we were able to cover a lot of ground. Our tour guide was a bit reserved and aloof. Maybe we were spoiled with the guide on our Ireland tour, or maybe it was cultural? Of course not having hot water for three of four nights in Prague was a issue. We Also tested for Covid upon arrival home. The mask requirement on the bus was Not enforced.

Prague and Budapest was my 7th RS tour and it did not disappoint. Even though I toured Prague on a 7-day tour in 2006, I saw and experienced new things! Great guides, great experiences, great traveling companions!

"Our private concert in Prague brought tears to my eyes! On a tour, I get used to showing up at the appointed time and place with not much consideration for what’s next. On a beautiful evening, just at sunset, we gathered on the bank of the Vltava, then we were ushered into the Smetana museum. The private concert was held in an intimate space with a beautiful view of the Charles Bridge. When a soprano sings a Don Giovanni aria just four feet away from you, well, tears!"

The trip to Prague and Budapest was amazing. In addition to the medieval sights, castles, architecture, river views, city sights, etc., our tour guide Anna Lenard and our Prague tour guide Martin were exceptional. They provided historical content and context that gave so much of what we saw more meaning.

"It is so hard to pick one thing, but for me visiting the Jewish neighborhood in Prague was exceptionally moving. As a Jewish woman of Eastern European heritage (although not from Prague or the Czech Republic) seeing family names the same as mine inscribed on the memorial walls was jarring. And, then there was the beauty of the synagogues--and the churches in both Prague and Budapest. Finally - the river cruise on the Danube...spectacular. Or the opera performances just for our group! "The description from our Prague local guide (Honsa - spelling?) of the Velvet Revolution. Hearing his story as a 14 year old marching with his friends (and thousands of others) really made it personal for me. Before his description, I didn't realize there were multiple marches over a month before the protestors got what they wanted. Walking those steps with him made it more real. I also loved the small opera performance at the Budapest Opera."

"Seeing Parliament building lighted during Danube cruise. First, I saw stars concentrated above the building. Later, I noticed, these stars were moving.
