After four long years, we were finally able to once again host our Tour Guide Summit — as we'd done every year before the pandemic, we flew a hundred of our mission-driven guides to our headquarters in Edmonds, WA, for a week of comparing notes, celebrating our tours, and reconnecting in person.
-
For the first time, we did this in the middle of summer. One glorious evening, our family of guides gathered to enjoy the sunset from Rick's back deck, overlooking Puget Sound.
-
With such a long pause since our last Guide Summit, this was many guides' first chance in several years to see dear friends — and the hugs were warm and abundant.
-
Squeezing close together to fit everyone in the official group photo always leads to giggles.
-
Prague-based Katka Svobodová and Jana Hronková were among the many guides who joined Rick in our radio studio to share their rich well of travel advice and insights with listeners on Travel with Rick Steves.
-
Stefan Bozadzhiev came all the way from Bulgaria — and Ragen Van Sewell all the way from Seattle — to join Rick and the rest of the guides, many fresh from the airport, at our kickoff happy hour at an Edmonds favorite, the Very Taki Tiki Bar.
-
After a busy week of meetings, mentoring, and mingling, we celebrated our final night with a jungle-themed costume party.

Fortunately, Rick survived the attack of wild tour guides. Phew!
We're hoping to revive our Tour Alum Reunion along with the next Guide Summit. Stay tuned… and so long until next time!
