On the next Travel with Rick Steves, author Anthony Sattin tells us why nomads have been an important counter-balance to the forces that have shaped "civilization" over the centuries.

We'll hear how colorful ceramic tiles have long been an important part of the scene in Portugal.

And we get an update on how things are for visitors to Poland this year from Rick's senior researcher. Cameron Hewitt recommends elegant and soulful Polish cities that he rates as some of Europe's best-kept secrets.

• In this week's billboard, Rick mentions the war raging in Ukraine, and reports that Cameron Hewitt "is just back from Poland" to provide an update on today's show. Rick mentions the "update" again in the segment A open.
• Rick also asks "What will you find in Poland this year?" in the program 720 promo.
• Rick opens segment B saying Poland is the fifth largest member of the European Union, and that the Russian war against Ukraine is happening just off its southeast border. He also introduces Cameron as having just returned from updating the Rick Steves guidebook to Poland, and again in a reset at 26:20.
