Special Event
Rick Steves On the Hippie Trail Hosted by the Creative Retirement Institute
Thursday, January 22, 2026
6–8 p.m.
Edmonds Center for the Arts
In the 1970s, the ultimate trip for any backpacker was the storied "Hippie Trail" from Istanbul to Kathmandu. As a 23-year-old, Rick made the trek, and like a travel writer in training, he documented it all. He'll recount how his 1978 adventure shaped his worldview, inspiring a life spent encouraging others to embrace travel as a path to self-growth and the true gift of a global perspective. Stow away with Rick as he shares photos and spins yarns from his trip of a lifetime — and if you make a donation to Creative Retirement Institute (CRI) at the event, you'll receive a free copy of Rick's "On the Hippie Trail" book.
