Mycenae

Mycenae — a fortress city atop a hill — was the hub of a mighty civilization that dominated the Greek world between 1600 and 1200 BC, a thousand years before Athens' Golden Age. A visit to Mycenae is a trip back into prehistory to see some of the oldest remains of a complex civilization in all of Europe. Following the same ancient sandal-steps as the ancient Greeks, today's visitors continue to enjoy Mycenae's majestic setting of mountains, valleys, and the distant sea. Exploring this still-impressive hilltop, you'll discover the famous Lion Gate, a manageable museum, an enormous domed burial chamber…and distant echoes of the Trojan War.
